New Delhi: Google CEO Sundar Pichai has expressed strong support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to benefit India. Pichai’s remarks came as Modi embarks on a three-day visit to the United States, primarily for the Quad Summit and the Summit of the Future.
During a recent statement, Pichai highlighted Modi’s forward-thinking approach, stating, “He is really thinking about how AI can transform India in a way that benefits the people of India.” He emphasized Modi’s challenge to explore AI applications across various sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure.
“We are robustly investing in AI in India and look forward to doing more,” Pichai added, praising Modi’s commitment to ensuring that AI advancements serve the Indian populace effectively.
In New York, Modi addressed technology industry leaders, showcasing India’s rapid economic transformation in sectors like electronics, information technology, semiconductors, and biotechnology. He reaffirmed his government’s dedication to establishing India as a global semiconductor manufacturing hub and discussed the country’s BIO E3 policy aimed at enhancing its biotech capabilities.
On the topic of AI, Modi underscored India’s commitment to an “AI for All” policy, which emphasizes ethical and responsible usage. The tech leaders present expressed keen interest in investing and collaborating with India, recognizing the country’s emerging status as a global technology hub fueled by innovation-friendly policies and vast market opportunities.
The CEOs agreed that investment in Indian startups could foster innovation and lead to the development of cutting-edge technologies.
