Bokaro: Vedanta ESL Steel Limited, a leading integrated steel producer in India, has launched a Millet-based Nutri-Shake Distribution Program across all 50 Nand Ghars in Jharkhand, coinciding with Rashtriya Poshan Maah.

This initiative supports the Prime Minister’s Poshan Abhiyaan, aimed at combating malnutrition in the country.

The Nutri-Shake program will distribute over 10,000 millet protein shakes, which are rich in essential vitamins and minerals, to promote healthy growth and development among children. These shakes are manufactured by the startup Millet Bowl and are FSSAI-certified, featuring a chocolate flavor and enriched with 23 essential nutrients.

The dairy-free shakes include a blend of Ragi, Bajra, Foxtail, and Kodu, along with jaggery, plant protein isolates, cocoa powder, and coconut milk powder, ensuring a six-month shelf life for lasting nutritional support.

The launch event, attended by Meenakshi Sabharwal (CQO), Kunal Daripa (Head CSR), and Abha Kumari (Health Councillor at Bokaro Sadar Hospital), included educational sessions on nutrition, anemia, and balanced diets. The event also celebrated the God Bharai ceremony for expecting mothers and the Anna Prasan ceremony for six-month-old infants.

Speaking on the occasion, Kunal Daripa emphasized the program’s importance, stating, “Through the 50 Nand Ghars in Jharkhand, we strive to nurture the future of the community by addressing the critical issue of childhood malnutrition. This initiative provides nutrient-rich, traditional superfoods that align with the Prime Minister’s Poshan Abhiyaan, ensuring that children receive the nourishment they deserve.”
