Mumbai: Kiran Rao’s acclaimed film “Laapataa Ladies,” which has been chosen as India’s official entry for the Oscars 2025, has made its debut in Japan, where it has quickly garnered appreciation from audiences. Set against the backdrop of rural India in 2001, “Laapataa Ladies” tells the enchanting story of two brides whose lives take unexpected turns when they are mistakenly swapped while traveling to their in-laws’ homes.
