Bokaro: ESL Steel Limited has been recognized as the highest blood-donating organization in Bokaro District, receiving certification from the Indian Red Cross Society earlier this year.

Continuing its commitment to social responsibility, the company organized a voluntary blood donation camp today at its Siyaljori plant, part of the employee volunteering initiative ‘V for Society’ in collaboration with its CSR department.

The camp was conducted in partnership with the Indian Red Cross Society and Citizens Foundation, ESL Steel’s health-intervention implementation partner. By the end of the event, 87 units of blood were donated, with participation from a diverse group of employees, including workers, contractual laborers, staff, technicians, officers, and management. However, some individuals who were unable to donate due to health screening results expressed disappointment.

This initiative aligns with Vedanta ESL Steel Limited’s ongoing efforts to support community development and promote a culture of social responsibility among its employees and business partners. The blood donation camp aims to enhance healthcare and support life-saving initiatives.

Dr. Abhay Bhusan, Civil Surgeon of Bokaro, attended as the Chief Guest and underscored the importance of blood donation, even donating a unit himself. Dr. B.K. Mishra, Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, served as the Guest of Honour and educated attendees on the significance of donating blood and its health benefits.

Kunal Daripa, Head of CSR at ESL Steel Limited, expressed gratitude to all participants and emphasized the health advantages of blood donation. Ravish Sharma, Chief Operating Officer of ESL Steel Limited, stated, “The primary objective of the camp is to contribute to the healthcare sector by addressing the critical need for blood. This initiative ensures that local hospitals and blood banks have the necessary resources to save lives. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed, embodying the spirit of compassion and making a meaningful impact on our community.”

Participants, whether as volunteers, donors, or supporters, provided positive feedback on the event, highlighting the effectiveness of ESL Steel Limited’s ‘V for Society’ initiatives in enhancing community health. The company remains dedicated to future projects aimed at societal betterment and achieving universal health coverage.
