Washington D.C. : Republican candidate Donald Trump, making a historic comeback to the White House, declared victory in the U.S. presidential election, calling the result “unprecedented and powerful.” Speaking to a massive crowd, Trump pledged to usher in a “golden age of America” and promised stronger border control policies.
“We have taken back control of the Senate,” Trump told supporters, adding that the victory was “a political triumph our country has never seen before.” He also indicated optimism about gaining control of the House of Representatives. If confirmed, Trump would become only the second U.S. president in history to return to office after a break, following Democrat Grover Cleveland’s non-consecutive terms in the 19th century.
According to election trends from BBC News, Trump has secured 266 electoral votes, just four shy of the 270 needed for victory. Vice President Kamala Harris, his Democratic rival, has won 219 electoral votes. Trump has already claimed victory in key swing states, including North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
In his first speech following the projected election results, Trump outlined key policy priorities, including a firm stance on national security and border control. “We will fix borders,” he said, adding that his administration would focus on preventing unnecessary wars. Trump highlighted the relative peace during his previous term, saying, “For four years, we had no war except for the killing of ISIS. We won’t start a war. We will stop the war.”
Trump also introduced former independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who he said would help “make America healthy again.” Amid chants of “Bobby! Bobby!” Trump expressed his support for Kennedy’s future initiatives.
On energy, Trump emphasized America’s dominance in oil supply and issued a warning to other nations, including Russia. “I will not let you down. America’s future will be bigger, better, bolder, richer, safer, and stronger than it has ever been before,” Trump declared.
The election, one of the most fiercely contested in recent history, saw high voter turnout as Americans decided between Trump and Harris. The campaign was marked by dramatic moments, including two assassination attempts on Trump and Harris’s unexpected entry into the race after Joe Biden’s withdrawal.
With the final results still pending in some states, Trump’s speech set the stage for a tense conclusion to what has been an extraordinary election battle.
