Sindri: The three-day Platinum Jubilee celebration at BIT Sindri concluded with a grand closing ceremony, attended by alumni, faculty, and prominent guests. The final day began with a tribute to the institute’s first director, Professor D.L. Deshpande, at his statue in the Deshpande Auditorium.
Key dignitaries at the event included Amarendu Prakash (Chairman, SAIL), Shashank Shekhar Garuriyar (Chairman, Cyber Vidyapith), Rajkumar Chaudhary (President, NHPC), and academic leaders like Professor D.K. Singh (Vice Chancellor, JUT, Ranchi) and Professor B.S. Sahay (Director, IIM Jammu).
The day featured cultural performances celebrating Jharkhand’s traditions and a ceremonial lighting of lamps. BIT Sindri Director Professor Pankaj Rai thanked the Jharkhand government for its support in expanding the institute’s infrastructure and departments while also acknowledging alumni contributions, including donations of buses and ambulances.
Professor B.S. Sahay and Professor D.K. Singh reflected on the institute’s significant role in shaping their careers. Sahay urged attendees to uphold BIT Sindri’s legacy, while Singh congratulated all involved in the jubilee’s success.
Amarendu Prakash praised the institute’s progress and emphasized giving back to BIT Sindri. He also proposed converting the MC Ground into a stadium, highlighting the role of people in creating infrastructure.
A special tribute was paid by Dr. Meena Sinha and Rajat Sinha, who donated advanced environmental engineering lab equipment in memory of their late daughter, Dr. Shini Sinha, with the lab inaugurated during the ceremony.
The event also featured a symposium on “Emerging Technologies: AI and Generative AI” and a session on “BIT Alumni – Job Creators,” discussing how alumni contribute to job creation and innovation.
The celebrations ended with renewed pride and a strong sense of unity, marking a milestone in BIT Sindri’s storied history and future potential.
