Bokaro: Workers from the Blast Furnace Department of SAIL/Bokaro Steel Plant staged a large protest against the management’s policies, demanding fair treatment and the timely payment of dues.

The demonstration, which started at Blast Furnace No. 03 and ended at the Chief General Manager’s Office, was led by Rajendra Singh, General Secretary of the Union and NJCS member.

Singh condemned the management’s delay in paying 39 months of arrears, describing it as a sign of disregard for workers. He also criticized the outdated incentive system, likening it to colonial-era policies, and raised concerns about the exploitation of contract workers.

He highlighted the disorganized medical checkup process, low wages, and lack of benefits such as night shift allowances and health insurance.

Singh warned that the workers’ Maha Sammelan on February 16, 2025, would mark a decisive moment, threatening a larger protest if demands were not met. Other union leaders, including Shashi Bhushan and Vipin Kumar Singh, joined the protest, calling for justice and better conditions for all workers.
