Dhanbad: IIT-ISM Dhanbad is proud to announce that Dr. Shib Sankar Ganguli, a 2011 M.Sc. Tech (Applied Geophysics) alumnus has been awarded the prestigious CV Raman Research Fellowship. Dr. Ganguli, a Senior Scientist at the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) in Hyderabad, will visit Imperial College London as part of this fellowship.

Dr. Ganguli is recognized as a leading figure in solid Earth sciences, with 35 publications in top international journals and three acclaimed books published by Elsevier and Springer International. His research focuses on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in geophysical applications, including reservoir characterization, exploration seismology, and CO2-enhanced oil recovery (EOR).

His pioneering work on CO2-EOR and its sequestration in Indian oil fields earned him the Springer Outstanding Thesis Prize in 2017. Dr. Ganguli has also received several prestigious awards, including the National Geoscience Award for Young Scientists (2017) and the Platinum Jubilee Medal for Young Scientists (2020). He was inducted into the Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS) in 2023.

Dr. Ganguli’s appointment to the CV Raman Research Fellowship is a significant milestone in his illustrious career, and IIT-ISM Dhanbad extends its congratulations to him on this well-deserved recognition.
