Bokaro: Aiming to generate livelihood, Vedanta-Electrosteel (ESL) imparted mushroom cultivation training to the Siyaljori village resident at Bokaro. The initiative was organised in association with a local NGO Drishtee Foundation and completed on Wednesday.
The project was organised with the motive of generating livelihood for villagers by making them independent in terms of understanding and working with the members of self-help groups formed by Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), informed ESL’s Public Relations official.
The JSLPS supported the training by providing trainers, refreshment, stationary and a training kit consisting of different essential materials required for mushroom cultivation.
ESL Steel provided the mushroom spawn used in this training from its mushroom resource center spawn producers.
The seven-day training session positively influenced 26 beneficiaries from nine different Self Help Groups (SHGs). While the first three days were dedicated to theoretical training, the remaining four days were utilized in practical lessons on how to grow mushrooms through several procedures, said the official.
Ashish Ranjan, Head – Community Relations ESL Steel Limited said, the training has been extremely successful; they are now skilled enough to produce mushrooms independently and earn their livelihood. “Our CSR initiative on mushroom cultivation training would not have been possible without support from Drishtee Foundation and JSLPS. I am content with the initiative and I hope we continue to touch lives for years to come,” he added.
