Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), a unit of Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Special Olympics India (SOB) to support the Indian delegation at the Berlin Special Olympics-2023 as part of its mission to promote sports and inclusive growth.

MoA was signed by GM (CSR-BSL) CRK Sudhanshu, Air Commodore (Ret.) and ED-SOB LK Sharma. Director-in-Charge of BSL, Amarendu Prakash, along with Executive Directors, senior officials of BSL, and Satbir Singh Sahota, Regional Director of SOB in Jharkhand were present on the occasion.

MoA includes the sponsorship of an Indian team of over 250 players, including SOB coaches and officials, for the Berlin Special Olympics. BSL will cover all expenses associated with the Indian team’s participation in the Berlin Special Olympics through this sponsorship.

It is worth mentioning that, of the 14 sports included in the Special Olympics, BSL recently hosted National Coaching Camps for Badminton, Cycling, Football, and Futsal, as well as trials for selection. Coaching camps and selection trials for other sports were held across the country.

Addressing the special athletes present during the signing of the MoA, BSL Director-in-Charge Amarendu Prakash said that it is a matter of pride for BSL and Bokaro Steel City to sponsor the Indian contingent for the Berlin Special Olympics. He also encouraged the players to do their best during the Special Olympics and wished them all the best.

Amrarendu later told the media that this initiative is part of BSL’s efforts to integrate specially-abled children and athletes into society.

Air Commodore (Retd) & ED-SOB LK Sharma and Satbir Singh Sahota, Regional Director (SOB), Jharkhand thanked BSL for sponsoring the Indian team for the Berlin Special Olympics-2023.
