Dhanbad: More than 3000 budding techies from two dozen engineering colleges from across the country who congregated at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad to participate in Concetto’22, the three day annual techno managerial fest, calibrated their grey matter against each other today in the brain storming rounds of series of competitions ranging from coding contests to designing of the Electrical and Electronic Circuits etc. .
The fest being held from October 21 to 23 began at the campus today with the one hour Signal Decryption Challenge held in Electronics department from9 a.m. to 10 a.m. during which the different competing teams of 2 to 4 members each were required to detect the signal being emitted from signalling BOT. The contest was held in treasure hunt format, the first stage of which was held today while the further stages will be held in next two days.
This was followed by Chemical Engineering department related event titled, Elementary Hunt held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in whole campus during which the participants were required to find some elements or compounds kept in mystical boxes.
A traditional map with some mystery names instead of the real name of some buildings of IIT (ISM) were also provided to the participants to make the contest interesting.
Furnishing more details of day one events, Anshuman Tejaswi, Head, Promotions and Marketing of the event said, “In one of event of Electronics Engineering Department, Agent of Electronics held at New Lecture Hall Complex (NLHC 2) from 2 to 3 p.m. the intellect and basic knowledge of participants came under scanner as they were required to solve some crime scene related problem and find the criminal”.
“The competition began with the quiz contest held in round 1 followed by one of contestant being taken as prisoner in round II while others were required to free the prisoner by obtaining the key by solving the questions put up before them” added Tejaswi.
“The participants also competed with each other designing the model of a Ballistic missile in the event of Engineering Physics Department, titled Trajectile held at another hall of New Lecture Hall Complex (NLHC -3) from 2-3 p.m.” said Amit Raj, Co Head, Promotions & Marketing of the event.
“In the event titled, Industrial Genix of Civil Engineering Department held at NLHC-4 the contestants were first pitched against each other in quiz contest at the first stage held today which was aimed to test their civil engineering skill on the basis of which they will be later provided problems from the during the later stages of competition during the next two days” further said Raj.
“The technical prowess of the budding technocrats were also tested in other events like –Death Race and Robo Wars during which they were required to design robots and make them race and fight; Black Box and Circuit a Way during which they were required to design electrical and Electronic circuits and RUNISM during which their Animation and
Game Designing skills were analysed” said Jai Anand, President of Student Gymkhana of IIT (ISM).
During the next two days of the fest a whole host of other events will be held including the cultural programmes and guest lectures of prominent speakers.
