ANS : Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India and James Marape, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, discussed a broad spectrum of bilateral connections in Port Moresby on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he and Prime Minister James Marape held good conversations on all aspects of India-Papua New Guinea (PNG) ties.

Modi said he and his partner addressed expanding collaboration in commerce, technology, healthcare, and climate change.

Prime Minister Modi separately met with the island nation’s Governor-General Bob Dadae and emphasised strengthening bilateral cooperation across sectors.

Modi tweeted that he had a great meeting with Papua New Guinea Governor-General Sir Bob Dada and discussed strategies to strengthen bilateral cooperation across sectors.

After meeting with the Governor-General, PM Modi arrived at the landmark APEC House on Ela Beach in Port Moresby, where NPG Prime Minister James Marape greeted him.

Prime Minister stated the globe is experiencing new difficulties and obstacles in the global Food, Fuel, Fertilisers, and Pharma supply chains in his opening remarks at FIPIC III. He noted that India helped Pacific Island friends during COVID-19 and other difficult periods when reliable countries didn’t.

Prime Minister said India feels it’s a role to communicate the Global South’s concerns, expectations, and aspirations through the G-20. India’s inspiration is Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which views the world as a family.

The summit includes 14 world leaders. Modi founded FIPIC in 2014 while in Fiji.

After attending the G7 conference in Japan and meeting with various world leaders, the Prime Minister arrived in Papua New Guinea last night.

It is the first time an Indian prime minister has visited Papua New Guinea, the second stop on his three-nation journey. He was received at the airport by Prime Minister James Marape, who touched his feet as a mark of respect.
