ANS: A group of 50 students had the unique chance to visit and experience the ‘Monsoon Session’ of the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha, Ranchi, under the school’s experiential learning initiative.

Students met Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto. They were overjoyed to learn that Mahto had previously worked as a teacher.

Mahato was ecstatic to witness the energetic youngsters engaged in the democratic process. Biranchi Narayan, MLA Bokaro, Rahul Kumar Sinha, DC Ranchi, and alumnus of DPS Bokaro were also on hand to teach the youngsters.

The excited and curious students examined the Vidhan Sabha, which stretches across 39.4 acres. They were informed about the 21 committees that function in the absence of members.

They also got to go to the library, which has volumes on Economics, Political Science, Geography, and the Art of Debating.

The Committee Lounge, CM Corridor, Central Lobby, Satta Paksh Lobby, Vidhan Sabha Canteen, and North and South Porticos were all visited by students.

The 3D replica of Vidhan Sabha was the centre of attention. Children were also allowed to participate in the discussion of the Supplementary Budget. Students had the opportunity to connect with a few legislators who discussed their experiences as public officials and urged them to pursue their aspirations without fear.

“It was an eye-opening experience to witness the legislative process firsthand,” the kids stated of their experiences. It helped us develop a better grasp of how our government works, they said.

Dr A. S. Gangwar, Principal, DPS Bokaro said that observing the live session in the Vidhan Sabha helped students gain insights into the intricate process of lawmaking and governance and reaffirmed their belief in the strength of democracy.

“Such educational trips play a crucial role as they actively engage students in the democratic process and support the lawmakers in their mission to build a brighter future for all. The New Education Policy 2020 emphasises hands-on learning, and DPS Bokaro tries to shape up wholesome individuals through such activities,” he added.
